By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Brazil’s former President, Jair Bolsonaro has applied for a 6-month tourist visa to remain in the United States, Reuters report.

Bolsonaro’s attorney, Felipe Alexandre said that he applied on Friday and plans to remain in the U.S. while his application is pending.

Bolsonaro flew to the U.S. just 2 days before his term ended on January 1.

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva took office before Bolsonaro’s supporters stormed the country’s capital.

Supporters of the former president also attacked the presidential palace calling for an overturn of the October election that Lula won.

The country’s Supreme Court agreed to open an investigation into the former president for allegedly encouraging anti-democratic protests.
