Ministry of Infrastructure Development & Housing to commence 2 rehabilitation projects on the Philip Goldson Highway in Belize City

Posted: Tuesday, January 31, 2023. 2:29 pm CST.

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Infrastructure Development & Housing (MIDH) said in a statement that in February it will commence two rehabilitation projects on the Philip Goldson Highway in Belize City to improve road infrastructure.

“One project will make repairs to the roundabout located at approximately Mile 3.5 (near Benny’s Apartments and Reimer’s Feed Mill),” the MIDH said.

“The second will rehabilitate the road pavement and address areas of the road structure between the Mile 3.5 roundabout and Ladyville that are experiencing differential settlement.”

The MIFDH said works will start on Wednesday, February 8, and will last for six months.

“The free flow of traffic will be maintained; however, disruption to the flow of traffic is inevitable. There may be occasions where it is restricted to one lane or diversions, if necessary,” the MIDH said.

“The public is advised to be vigilant and exercise extreme caution at all times when passing the worksites. Drivers are asked to reduce speed, obey traffic warning signs, and follow the instructions of flag persons at all times.”

The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing said it thanked the public for their cooperation in supporting the ministry’s efforts in maintaining critical public infrastructure.

“Safe, responsible, courteous driving is encouraged,” the MIDH said.
