By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On January 27, 2023, the trial commenced against Kareem Martinez, the police officer accused of shooting Laddie Gillett on July 14, 2021, in Placencia.
Today, Justice Antoinette Moore is scheduled to visit the scene where Laddie was shot in Placencia.
Justice Moore hopes to get a clearer understanding of what occurred that night.
Laddie’s dad, Emil Bradley, who is a former police officer told News 5 Belize that going back to the scene will be good for Justice Moore to get a clearer picture of what occurred.
“Going back to that site is something good so that Miss Moore could get a clear picture of what happened. They stated earlier in the testimony about three hundred feet. Man look yah, three hundred feet – the space in that area is not even three hundred feet. So you know my whole thing is why lie. Just say I fired a shot but it is a warning shot but it didn’t go in the air and it hit him or whatever,” Bradley said.
“Justice Antoinette Moore will visit the location where Laddie took his last breath, a place that holds such sad memories now welcomes her to visit as she continues the trial that ends with, in our hopes,” the Justice for Laddie Foundation published today.
