By Rubén Morales Iglesias: In recognizing World Wetlands Day, the Pesticides Control Board (PCB), under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise, is asking people who use pesticides to do so responsibly.
The day is being held under the theme ‘It’s time for Wetland Restoration’.
The Pesticides Control Boards said World Wetlands Day is a day to recognize and celebrate the importance of wetlands to our ecosystem.
“We would like to encourage all Pesticide users, retailers, importers, and manufacturers to handle pesticides responsibly,” said the PCB.
“The improper use of pesticides can lead to the pollution of our wetlands.
The PCB prepared a short video to show the triple rinse method of emptying pesticide containers. The PCB said that the triple rinse method maximizes pesticide value as nothing is wasted and minimizes “the amount of residues that remain in the containers and eventually enter our ecosystems”.
