By Aaron Humes: With 70 percent of the Taiwan-funded Corozal Town-Sarteneja Road now complete, residents of surrounding villages are “clamouring,” according to Infrastructure Development Minister Julius Espat, for the completion of the loop to Progresso, San Estevan, and Orange Walk Town.
A US$3.5 million grant has been approved by the Republic of China (Taiwan) to fund part of works valued at more than $8.59 million to pave six miles of the road from Orange Walk Town (Banquitas Bridge) to San Estevan; Government will provide the remainder financing of two million.
Works begin next week and will be completed in a year’s time.
