Caye Caulker man charged for assault on common-law wife

By Aaron Humes: A Caye Caulker man has been charged with wounding his common-law wife last August and was offered bail.

Fedrick Fidel Mai, 33, is accused of pointing a knife at his accuser on August 26, 2022, then getting into a struggle with her for the knife which ended with the complainant being wounded to her left index finger, breaking the skin. The struggle continued as she got hold of the knife and Mai is alleged to have bitten her on the shoulder. She let go and he ran off.

Mai denied the charge of wounding, pleading not guilty, and bail was offered of $1,000 which he has yet to meet. He remains on remand at the Central Prison until his next court date of April 4, 2023.
