Intoxicated man charged with aggressing police officer

By Aaron Humes: A night out in San Roman, Stann Creek District, ended for one man at the police station after he objected to being sent home by a police officer.

A police officer based at the Santa Cruz police station in the Independence Southern Formation responded to reports of disorderly behaviour at San Roman Restaurant late on Friday night. He encountered a long-haired man who appeared to be intoxicated and asked that he leave.

The man responded, with an expletive, that he, the officer, can’t send him home, complete with finger-pointing and attempting to hit him with a beer bottle. The officer managed to take away the bottle and take him into custody.

30-year-old Epifanio Cal has since been charged with aggravated assault and using insulting words.
