Shane Bradley to be tried in High Court for 2021 murder

By Aaron Humes: Chief Magistrate, Sharon Frazer, has committed Shane Bradley, 36, to the High Court on a charge of murder following a preliminary inquiry.

Bradley is charged with the August 21, 2021 murder of Edward Westby. The men were reportedly drinking when they got into an argument and Bradley allegedly stabbed Westby once in the chest.

The prosecutor submitted 18 witness statements and 14 documentary exhibits. Bradley was without his attorney but there were no objections and the Chief Magistrate made the pro forma declaration that a prima facie case had been made for committal to the High Court.

Bradley was given the usual alibi warning and will have his first appearance in the April session of the High Court’s criminal jurisdiction, scheduled to begin on April 20.
