After triumph in Belmopan UDP convention, John Saldivar thanks supporters and vows to represent the people

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Despite facing competition from two well-funded political opponents, incumbent John Saldivar emerged as the victor in the internal United Democratic Party candidate convention held in Belmopan.

In his victory speech, Saldivar expressed his gratitude to the people of Belmopan and his supporters who helped bring voters to the polls. He said, “From the bottom of my heart, I say a heartfelt thank you to the people of Belmopan for their overwhelming support on Sunday. I also thank all my campaigners and workers who gave selflessly to our efforts.”

Saldivar noted that his “Caucus for Change” ran a low-budget campaign, but the support of the people of Belmopan was enough to secure the win.

Looking ahead, Saldivar noted that he and the Caucus for Change are focused on returning proper representation to Belmopan and winning other conventions where UDP members face challenges. “[Our] ultimate goal is to unite the UDP and secure victory in the upcoming municipal and general elections,” Saldivar stated.

Saldivar ended his speech with a rallying cry, “One Nation, One Party, One People, One Leader.”
