International Court of Justice: Belize to file its memorial for Sapodilla Cayes vs Honduras in May

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Thursday, February 2, 2023, Belize received notice from Philippe Gautier, Registrar of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), informing Belize’s Agent that in the case concerning Sovereignty over the Sapodilla Cayes (Belize v Honduras), the court has set time limits.

According to a statement by the Government of Belize, by order, the court has fixed May 2, 2023, for Belize to file its Memorial and December 4, 2023, for the Republic of Honduras to file its Counter-Memorial.

Ambassador Assad Shoman has advised the Registrar that Belize intends to file its Memorial on or before the deadline set by the ICJ.
