By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, German law enforcement authorities confirmed that they shut down an encrypted communication service that was being used as a channel for organized crime, the Associated Press reports.

Those in the drug trade were reportedly using the app.

Over 70 properties were searched in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Poland on Friday and 48 people were detained.

Those detained were users and administrators of the app, Exclu.

The raids came as a result of an investigation from 2020.

The app, Exclu had an estimated 3,000 users — 750 of them in the Netherlands, where police also were involved in the investigation.
