International News: Military in Colombia spot balloon-like object in airspace

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Friday, a day before the U.S. shot down a suspected Chinese spy balloon in its airspace, Colombian officials detected a similar object over its airspace, Reuters report.

Colombian military issued a statement on Saturday saying that a possible balloon had been detected in its airspace on Friday morning.

Colombian officials did not specify if they knew or were aware of the balloon’s origin.

Colombian officials noted that an “object” was detected over its territory at an altitude of 55,000 feet.

“It was determined that it did not represent a threat to national security,” the statement added.
