San Pedro Pirates hold Altitude 2-2 at Independence in Premier League of Belize

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: National Champions Altitude have been struggling with injuries since the Premier League of Belize Closing Championship started four weeks ago, but despite the ‘hobbling experience’ the champs managed to pull off a 2-2 draw at home on Saturday against the San Pedro Pirates who had been sailing undeterred with three victories in a row.

After a 0-0 first half, Andir Chi opened the score in the 51^st minute to put the visiting islanders ahead 1-0.

Egged on by the home crowd, Miguel Garcia tied the match in the 61^st and new acquisition Oscar Rodas pushed them ahead 2-1 in the 67^th.

A penalty kick in the 79^th afforded San Pedro the 2-2 equalizer on the effort by Louis Valdez.

The draw keeps the San Pedro Pirates level with Port Layola, who drew 1-1 with Benque Viejo United, at ten points and in second position.

The champions are in fourth place with five points from a win, two draws, and a loss.

In the other matches, Verdes downed Wagiya 3-1, and Bandits tied 0-0 with Progresso.
