UDP Leader Shyne Barrow on John Saldivar’s convention victory: ‘The people of Belmopan have spoken’

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: UDP Leader, Shyne Barrow has extended congratulations to all candidates that participated in Belmopan’s convention.

“Congratulations to all the candidates for keeping democracy alive and demonstrating how viable the UDP is in Belmopan,” Barrow said.

“The people of Belmopan have spoken in one of our most sacred democratic exercises,” Barrow added.

Barrow says that the party will move forward with the choice of the people.

Prior to the convention, Barrow had publicly expressed his support for George Lovell and said that the page should be turned from “significant corruption in John Saldivar to a person with integrity.”

However, Saldivar emerged victorious at Sunday’s convention.
