By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise’s (MAFSE) and the Caricom Development Fund will be holding a honey value added capacity training in Central Farm on Thursday.

According to MAFSE, the capacity building at the Agro-processing Unit is for honey producers from the Cayo and Belize Districts.

The workshop ‘Beekeeping Productive Diversification Preparation of By-products with Honey’ to be facilitated by Beekeeping and Honey National Coordinator Miguel Huertas starts at 9:00 am. Huertas will be assisted by the Central Farm Agro-processing Unit led by Focal Person Anna Howe.

MAFSE is constantly having beekeeping and honey producing workshops for members of the beekeeping industry. The training topics include Infused Honey, Beeswax Candles, and Mead (honey wine). The Infused Honey included Honey Garlic, Honey Turmeric, Honey Ginger, and Honey Cocoa. MAFSE  said these products have medicinal purposes.
