Progresso down San Antonio 2-1, qualify again for Orange Walk Football Association 1st Division Finals against Caribbean Rum Boyz

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Progresso doubled up 2-1 over San Antonio on Sunday at the Louisiana Football Field in the Semifinals of the 2022-2023 Orange Walk Football Association 1st Division Opening Championship and qualified for the Final.

San Antonio got an early jump over Progresso when Axel Alamilla shook the net in the 17th minute. Progresso struggled but managed to even the hostilities in the 75th minute when Hector Carlos hammered in the 1-1 equalizer. Six minutes later in the 81st, Shamir Novelo turned things around with the definitive goal that sealed the 2-1 win punching in Progresso’s ticket to the final.

Progresso will now face archrivals Caribbean Rum Boyz in the Final on Sunday. Back on June 29, 2022, the Boyz were the ones to celebrate after a 2-0 win. Progresso have to play the game of their lives if they want to be the ones jumping up and down on Sunday at Louisiana.

The Caribbean Rum Boyz qualified to the Final on a 1-0  win over the San Jose Pumas.
