By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the members of the UDP National Organization of Women (NOW) issued a statement saying that they are disturbed by the “inhumane treatment of Ms. Niomi Polonio, which reportedly ended in her unfortunate passing.”
The organization says that for someone to be treated this way “ is alarming and appalling.”
“While it was suggested that there were some inconsistencies with Ms. Polonio’s behavior, a more humane course of action should have been to seek medical diagnosis and treatment,” the organization said.
UDP NOW further called on the Belize Police Department to conduct a thorough investigation.
“We also advise the general public that when they are aware of a crime taking place, they have a responsibility to report it. We at UDP NOW send prayers for Ms. Polonio’s five children and send our profound condolences to them,” the organization added.
