By Aaron Humes: If you felt shaking under your feet a few minutes ago, that was the shock from an earthquake that just occurred in the Swan Islands in the Gulf of Honduras.
Initial estimates read magnitude 6.0 force, occurring 18 miles from the north coast of Honduras. This has been revised to magnitude 5.3, 83 miles from La Ceiba, Honduras at a depth of 10 kilometres or 6.2 miles.
Shaking was felt as far north as the Yucatan Peninsula and as far south as Nicaragua.
There are no alerts for tsunamis as of yet.
The general vicinity was the site of previous earthquake strikes in May 2009 and January of 2018.
