International News: United States briefed over 40 countries on suspected spy balloon

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: U.S. officials confirmed that the United States briefed over 40 countries about the alleged Chinese spy balloon that it shot down on Saturday, Reuters report.

On Monday, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman briefed nearly 150 foreign diplomats across 40 embassies.

A top U.S. official said that the country is making sure that enough information is being shared with countries around the world.

The alleged spy balloon in U.S. airspace prompted U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to cancel a trip to Beijing.

Meanwhile, China’s Foreign Ministry has said that it was a weather balloon that had been blown off course and accused the U.S. of overreacting.
