By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) issued a statement advising of a 5.5 magnitude earthquake that struck this morning around 9:16.
NEMO noted that the epicenter of the tremor was located along the Central American fault line near Guanaja, Honduras.
Residents in various parts of the country reportedly felt the tremor, however, no major damage is being reported.
NEMO also advised that no tsunami alert has been issued for Belize as the country is not expected to be affected by any significant tsunami wave from this system.
