By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On February 10, 2023, Beltraide launched a new business incubation program. The program, which aims to enhance capacity building for women and promote female entrepreneurs of MSMEs in Belize, is supported by the governments of Belize and Taiwan and funded by the TaiwanICDF.
Taiwan’s Ambassador to Belize, David Kuan-Chou Chien, attended the launch ceremony of the two incubation centers along with several other prominent figures, including Narda Garcia, CEO in the Office of the Prime Minister and Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment, and the Deputy Mayor of Belize City, Allen Pollard Jr.
The purpose of the program is to provide an entrepreneurship-driven environment and adequate resources to more businesswomen, with the aim of supporting MSMEs in Belize and boosting the country’s economy in the post-pandemic era. The Taiwan Embassy noted that it will continue to work with the Government of Belize to assist female entrepreneurs of MSMEs.
