Super Bowl: Kansas City Chiefs clinch win over Philadelphia Eagles

By Aaron Humes: Kansas City Chiefs stormed back from a ten-point half-time deficit as quarterback and league Most Valuable Player Patrick Mahomes defied injury to claim a 38-35 victory in Super Bowl LVII, played tonight in Glendale, Arizona.

The Philadelphia Eagles started well as the teams traded touchdowns in the first quarter, but quarterback Jalen Hurts moved them ahead with a combination of gutsy play calling and determination as Mahomes reinjured a high sprained ankle being taken down from behind on a running play.

Down 24-14 at the half, the Chiefs reduced the deficit with a touchdown early in the third quarter, but the Eagles led by six entering the fourth quarter.

Then came the decisive final burst from the Chiefs that saw two touchdowns that moved them ahead 35-27, either side of an unforced fumble from Hurts. The Eagles tied the game late behind another run from Hurts, but kicker Harrison Butker, who missed a field goal earlier, had the last say with the game-winner.

The halftime show was headlined by a Caribbean representative in Rihanna, who smoothly delivered a medley of her greatest hits to date after a seven-year absence from the music industry. But the big surprise was an announcement afterwards that she is pregnant with her second child.
