Cuba’s enduring support for Belize’s national identity and development celebrated by Prime Minister Briceno

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Sunday, February 12, 2023, Belize welcomed Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party and President of the Republic of Cuba.

Prime Minister John Briceño met with President Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and said that Cuba has been a strong supporter of Belize’s national identity and development.

“We value bilateral relationships that have supported nationhood, self-determination, national identity, and development.

We were pleased to welcome the President of Cuba to Belize H. E. Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel y Bermúdez. Cuba was one of the first regional nations to stand beside Belize as we internationalized our cause for Independence and has remained a strong supporter offering critical assistance in areas of health and education,” the Prime Minister noted.
