Progresso beat Wagiya 2-0 in Premier League of Belize; Dangriga-side now 5-down in-a-row

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Progresso blanked Wagiya 2-0 at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk on Sunday in the Premier League of Belize.

The victory put Progresso at eight points propelling them from fifth to third place over both champions Altitude and subchampions Verdes.

But for Wagiya, it was their fifth consecutive loss in the 2022-23 Closing Championship in which they are languishing at the bottom of the standings without a point to show for their efforts.

The Dangriga-side held up for 62 minutes, but in the 63^rd they conceded a penalty kick to Leocadio ‘Peely’ Briceño and then another to Jonard Castillo in the 68^th minute.

This coming weekend, Wagiya will host Benque United in Dangriga while Progresso play Verdes in Orange Walk. Both games will be played on Sunday.
