By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Saturday, February 11, 2023, the Reef Music Studio was launched in Belize City.
The project was funded by the Inter-American Development Bank’s Sustainable Tourism Program II and administered by the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations.
The Reef Music Studio was officially handed over to the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) for its management and operation.
The studio will host state-of-the-art recording equipment to be used by musicians near and far.
Furthermore, the studio features a virtual recording mode that will enable artists to connect across the country.
Attendees at the launch included Ramiro Lopez Ghio, Country Representative for IDB, Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Youth, Sports, and Transport, Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education, Culture, Science, and Technology and Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations.
Attendees toured the recording studio and were given a live demonstration.
The studio will serve as a central outlet for musicians and entertainers to develop themselves and their craft by recording high-quality intellectual property.
