Selvin Waight granted bail for 2022 MidTown Grocery robbery

By Breaking Belize News Staff: After more than five months on remand for robbery, Selvin Waight has been granted bail.

Waight, who was charged for the May 2022 armed robbery at MidTown Grocery on Albert Street, was remanded to the Belize Central Prison in September 2022. On Friday, February 10, he was granted bail in the sum of $2,500 plus one surety of the same, which he was able to meet.

The conditions of his bail include signing in at a designated police station three times a week and having a 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. curfew.

Waight is accused of robbing $280 from the store and was later charged with robbing Moon Clusters on Daly Street of $1,400.

In court he claimed that he was in jail when both incidents occurred and that police waited for him to be released to arrest and charge him with those crimes.
