Belize City man who tried to hide crack cocaine from police by swallowing it gets fined

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Belize City resident, 46-year-old Akeem Theus was fined in court this week for possession of crack cocaine.

Theus appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday, charged with a single count of possession of controlled drugs, with respect to an undetermined quantity of crack.

Theus pleaded guilty to the charge and pleaded to the court to be spared prison time, as he has a two-year-old daughter to care for. He was fined $150 plus $5.00 cost of court which he must pay by March 20, or he will spend two months in jail for default.

Police on foot patrol in Taylor’s Alley saw a bag fall from his sweater and when they approached him they reportedly saw him put a substance into his mouth and throw the bag on the ground.
