International News: 3 churchgoers kidnapped after Mass in Haiti

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Sunday, gangs in Haiti reportedly kidnapped 3 churchgoers just after mass, Reuters report.

The churchgoers were leaving a church in Port-au-Prince when they were taken.

Media in Haiti say that the culprits are demanding high sums of money as ransom.

There are increased reports of abductions in Haiti and places of worship are highly targeted.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has described the situation as “a living nightmare”.

These reports come only 5 days after a priest was seized on his way to his missionary community.

In 2022, there were more than 1,200 reported kidnappings in Haiti.
