Salvadoran national Jose Castro fined for immigration offense; Faces deportation

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Salvadoran national has been fined and is awaiting deportation after committing an immigration offense.

Jose Castro appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday, charged with a single count of failing to comply with the conditions of a visitor’s permit.

Castro pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $1,000 plus $5 cost of court which he was ordered to pay upfront or face six months in prison.

A removal order has been granted against him and he will be deported once the issue of his fine has been settled. He currently remains in custody at the Belize Central Prison.
