Posted: Wednesday, February 15, 2023. 3:49 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The latest wave of COVID-19 infections that began in mid-December appears to have subsided, with just 24 new cases reported in the last week and only 22 active cases countrywide.

According to the Ministry of Health and Wellness, no persons are hospitalized with the virus and the number of deaths nationally has stayed at 688 for some time now.

Eight of the new cases were reported in Belize City and three in Punta Gorda Town with another two in Bella Vista, Toledo District, and Dangriga, but others were scattered across the country except for Corozal District and San Pedro Town.

Overall, 70,721 persons have been infected with the virus as the pandemic approaches its third anniversary.

Belizeans are reminded to take precautions as the virus affects different people in different ways.
