International News: Russian bombers intercepted near Alaska

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD) informed that it intercepted several Russian strategic bombers and fighter jets over Alaskan airspace, Reuters report.

The aircrafts that were intercepted on Monday did not enter U.S. or Canadian airspace, NORAD noted.

“NORAD had anticipated this Russian activity … Two NORAD F-16 fighters intercepted the Russian aircraft,” it said.

Today, Russian officials noted that it had carried out several flights over international waters in recent days in routine flights.

Meanwhile, security forces in North America have heightened vigilance following the suspected Chinese surveillance balloon that crossed into U.S. airspace.
