By Breaking Belize News Staff: Operations at the Belize City Magistrate’s Court this morning came to a halt as a number of staffers engaged in industrial action in the form of a sick out.
Reports are that key staff members apart from the Magistrates and court prosecutors and orderlies that are essential to the functions of the court all called in sick simultaneously.
Posts such as cashiers and the Clerk of Court have been empty since the start of the business day.
Reports are that several other government departments are experiencing similar incidents.
The action coincides with a meeting of the Government of Belize and the Joint Union Negotiating Team (JUNT) on the issue of the reinstatement of increments which began earlier today.
