By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man charged with fleeing from police after being arrested, inquired in court this week what his penalty would be if he pleaded guilty.
Twenty-three-year-old Eandre Nunez appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, charged with escape from lawful custody. Allegations are that on February 13, he was detained pending a charge of theft but fled police custody.
In court, Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson said that he would have to enter a plea first to find out what his penalty would be but if he pleaded not guilty the matter would be adjourned and a date would be set for trial.
Nunez could not decide how he wanted to plead so an equivocal plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf. He was granted bail in the sum of $1,500 plus one surety of the same, which he met.
Nunez is due back in court on March 16.
