BEL plans 2-hour outage in large area of Belize District affecting Belize City, many villages along the main highways on Saturday morning

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) said it plans a two-hour outage in a large area of the Belize District covering the Philip Goldson Highway, the old Northern Highway, the George Price Highway, and the Boom Road, from 6:00 am to 8:00 am on Saturday morning. The outage will affect Belize and several villages including Ladyville, Burrell Boom, Sandhill, Maxboro, Maskall Gardenia, Western Paradise, Hattieville, and the entire Belize River Valley.

The utility company said the power interruption is necessary to repair hotspots on a transformer device at the Westlake Substation at Mile 8 and to replace a voltage device at the Ladyville Switchyard, “to improve the reliability of power supply to the areas”.

BEL said the affected areas will be:

“Mile 1 to Mile 37 on Philip Goldson Highway including: West Landivar, Coral Grove, Buttonwood Bay, Belama Phases 1,2,3 & 4, Bella Vista, North End Estate, Fullers Court, Driftwood Bay, Palmgrove Estate, Whitfield Courts, Vista Del Mar, Ladyville, Lord’s Bank, Green Estate, Lake Gardens, Dew Drop Estate, Maxboro, Double Run, Salt Creek, Los Lagos, Sandhill, Maxboro, Gardenia, Biscayne, Crooked Tree, Rhaburn Ridge; all communities along the Old Northern Highway including Boston, Rockstone Pond, Lucky Strike, Santana, St. Anne’s, Chicago, Corozalito, Maskall and Bomba.”

“And Mile 1 to Mile 25 on George Price Highway including: Krooman Road, Fabers Road between George Price Highway and Krooman Road, Westlake, Western Paradise, Sunset Park, Western Pines, Tropical Park, Hattieville, Freetown Sibun, Rockville, Gracie Rock, Cedar Bank, and Jih Chan; all communities along Boom/Hattieville Road including Fresh Pond; entire Belize River Valley including Burrell Boom, Flowers Bank, Scotland Halfmoon, Bermudian Landing, Isabella Bank, Flowers Bank, Lemonal, Double Head Cabbage, Willows Bank, Saint Paul’s Bank, and Rancho Dolores.”
