By Breaking Belize News Staff: Eight farmers from Orange Walk were charged in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court this week for being in possession of illegal lumber.

The men, 60-year-old Cornelius Klassen, 64-year-old Isaac Olfert, 31-year-old France Olgert, 48-year-old Rodrigo Canizales, 37-year-old David Cortez, 26-year-old Jacobo Schmitt, 38-year-old Manuel Contreras, and 32-year-old Bhrayan Lopez Delgado, were allegedly found at a Sawmill Site in Burrell Boom Village in possession of 271 pieces of Santa Maria Lumber; 294 pieces of Mahogany Lumber; 23 pine logs and 3 Remero logs.

The group of 8 males appeared before Senior Magistrate, Aretha Ford in Court #2 this afternoon at 2:00 in the presence of their attorney, Mark Williams where they were jointly charged with one count each of unlawful possession of forest produce.

They all pleaded not guilty, and since they were summoned to court, bail was not an issue.

The group is set to return to court on April 17.
