By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On February 17, 2023, Prime Minister John Briceño met with the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the African Export-Import Bank (AFREXIMBANK), Professor Benedict Okey Oramah, and senior executives.

“We recognize a new financial partner and anticipate the establishment of a relationship beneficial to our individual as well as regional economy and development,” the Prime Minister said.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, AFREXIMBANK facilitated CARICOM Member States’ purchases of vaccines, medicines, and supplies from the African Medical Supplies Platform.

“As CARICOM Member States, we signed a partnership agreement to enable access to the Bank’s Financial Instruments,” the Prime Minister added.

The Prime Minister is attending the 44th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in The Bahamas.
