Taiwan-funded water system rehabilitation project launched in Guinea Grass, Belize

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Taiwan Ambassador David Kuan-Chou Chien, alongside Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise Abelardo Mai and Benito Uck, Chairman of Guinea Grass Village Council, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for a water system rehabilitation project in Guinea Grass Village, Orange Walk on February 17, 2023.

This project, funded by the Government of Taiwan, aims to add 150 new connections and provide water service to 600 local residents. The rehabilitation will include upgrades to the existing well, tank, tank fence, generator house, and electrical/chlorine room, as well as installation of distribution lines, accessories, and house service connections.

During the ceremony, Minister Mai and Ambassador Chien highlighted the strong partnership and genuine friendship between Belize and Taiwan. The Taiwan Embassy expressed its continued commitment to working with the Belizean government to improve the lives of citizens and ensure a safer environment.
