Amado Cruz leads La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge winners PACT to claim Boom to City Canoe Race

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Team PACT comprising Olympian Amado Cruz, Daniel Cruz Sr, and Jerry Cante showed on Sunday that they are well prepared to defend their Belikin La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge title as they captured the Boom to the City Race ‘Powered by Guinness’ in two hours, 37 minutes, and 15 seconds (2:37:15).

PACT, sponsored by the Belize Tourism Board, won by 22 seconds over Slim and Trim like Guava Limb, consisting of Javier Guardado, Danny Cruz Jr, and Andres Cabb, who were clocked at 2:37:37.

Koop Sheet Metal (Christian Lopez, Carlos Linarez) were third in 2:40:39. UES (Ultimate Electrical Solutions – Hener Cruz, Roy Cano, Clayton Cabb) paddled in fourth in 2:43:05. The Wateva Boyz comprising Adrian Williams, Darren Williams, and Miguel Magandid finished fifth in 2:43:29.

Twenty-five teams competed in the Boom to the City Race that started at Riverside Park in Burrell Boom to Riverside Tavern in Belize City. That was the last race before the four-stage Belikin La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge which comes up from March 3-6 from San Ignacio to Belize City.
