Benque Viejo United drop Wagiya 2-1, jump to 3rd spot in Premier League of Belize

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Benque Viejo United made a big jump this weekend with a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Wagiya at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga.

The win catapulted Benque Viejo United over Progresso and Verdes from the fifth to the third spot in the Premier League of Belize’s. They now have ten points from six games to show for their efforts.

Aiden Nunez opened the hostilities for Wagiya in the seventh minute, but Benque United bounced back in the 37^th on a goal by Jaider Aragón and then secured the win on a goal by César Infrán.

Benque will the San Pedro Pirates at San Pedro on Saturday while Wagiya will visit Internacional FC, previously Bandits, in Belmopan that same night.

But while Benque are riding high, Wagiya recorded their sixth consecutive loss. Surely a grim start for the Dangriga team.
