By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Social media giant, Meta is launching a pay-for-verification subscription service for Facebook and Instagram, CNN reports.
On Sunday, Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement that will allow users of Instagram and Facebook to pay for verification.
The “Meta Verified” will commence at $11.99 a month on the web or $14.99 a month on iOS.
In addition, users will have extra protection from impersonation accounts and direct access to customer support.
Users who wish to begin the subscription would need to provide a government ID that matches their profile name and picture.
“This new feature is about increasing authenticity and security across our services,” Zuckerberg said.
Users that have their accounts already verified will not be affected.
