Minors among four charged in Friday night Maya Mopan brawl

By Aaron Humes: Police say they have detained four persons including three minors in connection with an attack on a man in the Maya Mopan area of Belmopan on Friday night.

Wilber Rivera was set upon by four men, one armed with a machete, while on his way back from the store.

25-year-old Emilio Saqui was jointly charged with common assault with the minor boys, one as young as 15.

Police were able to quickly respond according to department press officer Assistant Superintendent Fitzroy Yearwood due to the presence of the new police station in the area; Rivera would have faced potential injury or even death had police not arrived in time.
