Belizean Albert Davis outruns Guatemalan Francisco Lima to win Taurus Hammock Bridge 10-Mile Circuit in Cayo

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Albert Davis outran Guatemalan rival Francisco Lima and 39 other runners by 47.6 seconds to capture the top spot in the Taurus Hammock Bridge 10-Mile Circuit in Cayo on Sunday.

Running for the Belize Coast Guard, Davis clocked 58 minutes, 49.9 seconds. Lima was timed at 59:37.5. They were the only two runners to run the ten miles in under an hour.

The 10-mile Taurus Circuit started at Taurus Blocks and Building Supplies on the Branch Mouth Road in Sam Ignacio. The race headed to La Loma Luz Boulevard across the Santa Elena Bridge, on to George Price Avenue, over the Hawkesworth Bridge, past the Sam Ignacio Police Station to Buena Vista St, Joseph Andrews Drive, Bullet Tree Road, Bullet Tree, Santa Familia Road, Branch Mouth, Branch Mouth Road to Taurus.

Third place was taken by Lionman Fitness’ Ryan Gabourel in 1:07:03.3. Travellers’ Anthony Chiquin finished fourth in 1:07:04.0 while Maris Cakes’ Giovanny Guerra ran in fourth in 1:14.38.8.

The next five were Edgar Alvarez (6), Cody Pech (7), Edwin Garnett (8), Kevin Rash (9), and Marco Reyes (10).

In total, 40 of 41 runners completed the race.
