By Aaron Humes: The Jamaica Gleaner reports that performer Adidja Palmer, better known as Vybz Kartel, has been denied an application to introduce new evidence to support his appeal on a conviction of murder by the Privy Council in the United Kingdom.
Specifically, Palmer and his attorneys were seeking to have the court admit fresh information from an expert witness in relation to cell phone evidence after the phone was examined in Jamaica in the presence of the prosecution. No date has been set for the substantial appeal to be heard.
Palmer was convicted in 2014 with three others – fellow entertainer Shawn Storm, real name Shawn Campbell, as well as Kahira Jones and Andre St John for the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, whose body has yet to be found.
Palmer is serving a term of 35 years to life imprisonment; St John, 30 years to life; and Campbell and Jones, 25 years to life each before consideration for parole.
