BREAKING: “Erick Variez drowned,” police say

By Benjamin Flowers: Police have determined that 31-year-old Erick Variez, who was found dead on Tuesday, died of drowning.

Variez’s post-mortem examination results were released today, certifying that the died from “asphyxia due to inhalation of fluid” as a consequence of drowning.

Variez had been reported missing on February 20 and found dead around 4:30 p.m. on February 21 on a private island eight miles north of Belize City.
