Ministry of Agriculture representatives attend a virtual three-day regional agribusiness trainer of trainers workshop

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Three representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE) are attending a virtual three-day regional “Trainer of Trainers Workshop on the Agri-Business Incubation Toolkit”.

According to MAFSE, Education Cooperative Officer Hugo Miranda, Extension Officer Melissa Balan, and Belize Marketing and Development Corporation (BMDC) Marketing Officer Chad Bowman are presently attending the agribusiness workshop that is supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Representation for Jamaica, the Bahamas and Belize, in collaboration with the Government of Belize.

“The workshop aims at building the capacity of the sector stakeholders on the application of the Agribusiness Incubation tool kit aimed at improving the productivity and sustainability of smallholder producers,” MAFSE said in a social media post.

The Agriculture Ministry said the agribusiness training workshop forms part of a project under FAO’s Technical Cooperation Program in collaboration with the Government of Belize entitled ‘Technical assistance for inclusive, sustainable and resilient food systems in selected rural and peri urban Territories of Cayo District, Belize, as a response to the COVID-19 (TCP/BZ/3801)’.

The workshop which started on Monday ends today, Wednesday, February 23.
