By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a break-in of a residence in the Sanctuary Bay Reserve, Stann Creek District, which a few years ago was the subject of a U.S. federal authority investigation.
According to police, a retired American woman said she and her husband went to check on their neighbour’s house, who is presently out of the country. She was checking the second floor and had entered the master bedroom when she encountered a tall, slim-built, dark-skinned man in dark clothing and a black peaked warm cap, carrying a machete.
The burglar demanded money and she ran downstairs, screaming for her husband. The husband shouted back at the burglar, who fled into the nearby bushes. A further check of the building found nothing of value missing, but the point of forced entry was found on a middle slide door in the west part of the building.
Police continue their investigations.
