Apartment building in Seine Bight Village destroyed by fire

By Benjamin Flowers: An apartment building in Seine Bight Village was completely destroyed by fire this week.

Police say that the building owner, 54-year-old Rolando Espat, reported that around 7:54 p.m. on Wednesday, he was in the building which houses four apartments, when he noticed smoke coming from his room.

Upon investigation, Espat saw sparks coming from a wall outlet near his bed and his mattress on fire.

No one was in any of the rooms at the time and no injuries were sustained during the incident.

Police say that the building itself was valued at $50,000 but was not insured. The value for the items lost in the rooms has not been calculated as yet, but forms a part of an ongoing investigation.
