LPG prices go up two to three dollars on Monday

Posted: Sunday, February 26, 2023. 12:21 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Consistent with the onset of winter and higher heating prices in the United States, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) imports are set for another price increase.

On Monday per the Supplies Control Unit (SCU) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise, prices rise ten cents per gallon to $4.10 wholesale, $5.70 retail (urban) and $5.80 retail (rural).

Prices per pound increase two cents in Belize City and district towns, from $1.28 to $1.30; in rural areas prices will go up three cents from $1.30 to $1.33. That means a hundred-pound cylinder of “butane” costs $130 in the municipalities and $133 outside of them.

While butane is the lesser component of LPG in the national formula of 70 to 30, an increase in its acquisition price is credited for the rise in prices.
