Banker Martin Marshalleck appointed to replace Dr. Andre Sosa as KHMH Board Chairman

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Minister of Health and Wellness Kevin Bernard today informed the press that Martin Marshalleck is being appointed as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH).

Marshalleck, who is a banker by profession, replaces Dr. Andre Sosa who was suddenly removed as Chairman, and informed of the decision via e-mail. Following Sosa’s removal, Board member Arun Hotchandani, had been acting as Chairman.

Last month when Dr. Sosa was removed, Minister Bernard said that “[I] believe that the KHMH needs to move forward in a viable manner, financially and I think that while Dr Sosa has served in that capacity and meant well for the KHMH and I wish him well, I just think it is time for us to refocus the KHMH in addressing many of the issues facing KHMH at the same time and to move KHMH in a more financially viable footing and I think we need to identify a new chairman who will be able to do that.”

According to the Minister of Health and Wellness, Marshalleck is expected to bring his experience in financial management to benefit the KHMH board.
