By Rubén Morales Iglesias: A total of 380 head of cattle have been exported to Mexico over the last two days.
“On March 1st, 2023, a total of 157 beef cattle or 99,378 lbs. of live beef was successfully exported to Mexico and generated a total revenue of approximately $200,000.00,” Principal Agriculture Officer and National Director of Livestock Belarmino Esquivel told Breaking Belize News.
“On February 28th, 2023, a total of 223 beef cattle animals or 148,160 lbs. of live beef was successfully exported to Mexico and generated a total revenue of approximately $300,000.00.”
That accounts for 247,538 lbs. with a value of $500,000.00.
According to Esquivel, to date 1,092 head of cattle have been exported to Mexico for 2023. That has generated approximately $1,410,000 in revenue for the livestock industry.
In 2022, Belize exported 4,995 head of cattle to the SuKarne company in Mexico. That totalled approximately 2.997 million lbs. valued at approximately BZ$6.45 million.
